A $52 million property renewal to upgrade hotel rooms, guest services, and amenities has officially been completed as of , Thursday, July 12th. The second phase of renovation began in September 2011, and took place in 450 rooms, giving each one a bathroom make over by modernizing showers, vanities, sinks, lighting and fixtures. Rooms and hallways also received new carpeting and walls were reframed and redecorated with new artwork.

Peter Shaindlin, COO of Halekulani Hotel, states that these renovations are designed to shift the hotel towards having a “legacy” reputation, making sure staff members are “centered”. He also states that, “The renewal of Halekulani provides a unique opportunity for us to reexamine the iconic values that have built its legacy. Drawn from the values that have established the Halekulani brand, the completion of the renewal reflects our commitment to remain true to the hotel’s original spirit while evolving and enhancing the unique Hawaiian vacation experience for which we have also come to be known — providing our guests with a journey of transcendence and fulfillment that cannot be replicated.”

The first phase of renovation began way back in 2008, with the remodel of banquet rooms, marble floors, new wall coverings, light fixtures, wood floors in the Orchids restaurant and La Mer foyer, along with the remodel of restrooms in the ballroom foyer and makeovers to the fitness room, business center, and lobby undergoing change. The Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company Inc. was the contractor chosen for this multi million-dollar renovation of this luxurious Hawaiian hotel.
