Pork chops, garlic chicken, fried rice and peanut butter crunch…It’s safe to say I found a little piece of heaven on Kapahulu Avenue – better known as Side Street Inn.

Just a few minutes outside of Waikiki, the restaurant offers a variety of choices for lunch, dinner and dessert. My fiance and I met a bunch of friends there for dinner, and you can probably already guess what we ordered. To be honest, that was only half of what swept through our table that night. Like most customers, we ordered family-style and shared each dish but still ended up with way too much left overs!

I could not wait to try their fried rice, one of many dishes that Side Street is most known for. The verdict? Soooo good! It went really well with some garlic chicken and sauteed mushrooms. So much food, so little space to write about them all. Trying to recall what other foods passed through our table: kalbi, garlic edamame, some tofu pupu, spinach salad and so much more.

As the famous saying goes, there’s always room for dessert! So I will use up this space to talk about DESSERT; otherwise known as peanut butter crunch. A warm gooey brownie with some kind of wonderful crunchy peanut butter concoction, topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. My friend hit the nail on the head when he said it tasted like a Butterfinger on a plate. Oh em gee.

Although it doesn’t look like it from the outside, Side Street Inn Kapahulu is rather large – complete with a full bar and karaoke after 10 p.m. Hehe. We didn’t quite stay late enough this time, but good to know for future outings!
