On our last visit to Kauai, we found “a little slice of Italy in the middle of Hawaii!”
That’s how this Koloa eatery describes itself, and after going there for the first time, I completely agree. Customers depart from the historic Kauai town as soon as they step foot inside of Pizzetta – where the aroma of rich flavors blends nicely with an ambiance warmed with laughter and pleasant chatter. A “welcome to the family!” of sorts that goes without saying and goes a long way in Italy.
Already impressed with the way things looked and smelled, we could hardly wait to find out how things tasted! Penne pasta tossed with a homemade pesto cream sauce sounded beyond delightful, so I ordered that without hesitation. We also got the gluten-free vegetarian pizza; it came piping hot and topped with mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Yum!
Each dish had exceeded our expectations – not only were the portions huge but also very, very tasty. No complaints here. Our Kauai hosts had been pleasantly surprised to find gluten-free options on the Pizzetta menu, as they are both on very strict diets. Ironically, they have lived up the street from this restaurant for many years, and this, too, was their first time!
Many customers rave about Pizzetta’s pizzas. From the Milano (fire roasted vegetable medley and feta cheese) to the Shrimp Puttanesca (shrimp, capers, olives, fresh tomatoes), there’s no shortage of choices at this little eatery. Customers can also “build their own” pizza, if they like, or just order it by the slice and take a stroll through historic Koloa town.
