Perhaps the weather isn’t cooperating, and it’s too rainy and windy for a day at the beach. Sand whipping you in the face isn’t what I call a “good time.” Instead, head indoors to one of Hawaii’s many bowling alleys!
Pali Lanes Bowling Alley in Kailua welcomes everyone with the aloha spirit. It is located in the heart of windward Oahu town, next to Whole Foods and about a five-minute drive away from Kailua Beach.
Even though you’ll be indoors, it still feels like you’re on vacation in Hawaii. Swaying palms, a vast blue ocean and marine animals full of life color the surrounding walls. You’ll see famous landmarks in those murals as well, like Chinaman’s Hat and the Mokulua Islands.
This family-owned business is the perfect place for any age, from toddlers to grannies. Most families show up in time for cosmic bowling – when they can do a little bowling and practice their dance moves. “Rock It Bowl” happens at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and on Wednesdays during school breaks.
Hungry? The alley’s banquet room recently transformed into a Hawaiian restaurant with scrumptious and authentic Hawaiian food. There’s also a snack bar with more ono (delicious) food and karaoke bar, if you feel so inclined. As long as you can carry a bowling ball, Pali Lanes will accommodate you, making you feel right at home in Hawaii.
