Attracting more than 50,000 visitors annually, the Okinawan Festival has become the premiere annual event of the Hawaii United Okinawa Association. Proceeds from the Festival support the HUOA’s mission of preserving, promoting and sharing the Okinawan culture.

It’s bad news for the Hawaii tourism industry but could be good news for you. Hotel occupancy in Hawaii has dropped by more than ten percentage points since January of last year.

Today we get caught up on some Hawaii vacation news. We talk about a couple of restaurant closings and the opening of some new ones. We also discuss a wonderful Kupuna project that’s underway which is helping preserve the rich history of Hawaii from its precious elders. We make a call and surprise one of our podcast listeners whose here on vacation and get some thoughts from her about her Hawaii vacation.
