Now that it’s 2009, we can watch to see all the promotional and celebratory events that will take place in Hawaii during this year that marks the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood
. Most of the celebrations will be happy ones, certainly worthy of your notice if you’re thinking of vacationing here during the year. (The third Friday in August is when Statehood Day is recognized.) But Hawaii’s statehood did not come easily, nor was it universally welcomed in the islands. Here is a brief history of the process:

Just back from Maui we finish discussing our experience and also do a mini restaurant review about Capiche? We just loved it there and the food was magnificent. We also begin our series of fine dining restaurants beginning with Oahu. On the other end of the spectrum, we answer one of the weirdest questions we’ve ever received about Spam, the popular luncheon meat which has become a staple for folks here in Hawaii.
We give some shout outs today to folks in our live Ustream and as we do on every podcast, go over some great packages which have been booked in the last 24 to 48 hours.

Today we do our show live from Aqua Diamond Wailea Resort and Spa on Maui. We had a great time at this resort and talk about our experience as well as answers some questions from twitter friends and podcast listeners. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get a more main camera operating so we had to use the simple web cam built in to the Macintosh. We were able to roll tape and we’ll get that up just as soon as possible. The show worked out pretty good anyway and gave the show a little bit of a different perspective, kinda up close and personal.
As usual, we go over packages that have been booked in the last 24 to 48 hours which gives us the chance to welcome new customers to our Ohana (Family) and also lets us congratulate all of the fine Hawaii-Aloha.com agents that put these packages together.
