You won’t find Puff the Magic Dragon here but you will find an eclectic mix of shops, boutiques and restaurants. Hanalei is located west of Princeville on the North shore of the island of Kauai and offers a unique perspective on life in the plantation days with many historic buildings. You’ll find an old school house that has been restored to a small shopping area and lots of interesting spots that will keep you busy. Kauai can be rainy so this is a great place to hang out between raindrops.

If you have time you can stop at the nearby Hanalei Pier where many locals pass the day fishing and talking story. If you’re a movie buff you may recognize the pier in the famous movie South Pacific.
