Hawaii wants your body, and the state is going all-out to get it here. The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau has just launched a three-million-dollar advertising campaign to lure you: TV and radio spots, Web-site ads and full-page newspaper ads.
The good news is that the campaign highlights discounts that are being offered by hotels, airlines, attractions and other parties. Of course, the advertising is pretty general. Yes, there ARE discounts – especially welcome in these times of high airfares and across-the-board higher prices. The Hawaii-Aloha agents DO have the specifics – and, yes, there are some really good packages and deals to be had. Check the home page of this site and select a Hawaii-Aloha agent, or call 1-800-843-8771

You’ve heard there isn’t a whole lot of action or excitement on the two smaller islands of Molokai and Lanai. They’re the islands to visit when you really want to get away from it all. You can relax, enjoy the beach and the surf and the sun without a lot of distractions, and still stay at a beautiful place and enjoy great food.
Last week on Lanai, Jenna, the daughter of President Bush and the First Lady, along with her new husband Henry, visited the island of Lanai accompanied by the requisite Secret Service contingent. When Jenna and Henry dined at Lanai City grill, which was busy as always on a Friday night, their arrival went unnoticed and they enjoyed a romantic dinner unbothered.
The Secret Service people, if they were there, must have been invisible. You have to wonder how often that happens in Washington.
