Located on Maui’s west coast in Wailea, the Grand Wailea Resort is adjacent to Wailea Beach and one-quarter mile from Wailea Blue Golf Course. Wailea Tennis Center, Shops at Wailea, and Polo Beach are one mile away. This Five Diamond Resort is a Waldorf Astoria property and stands on 40 acres facing beautiful Wailea Beach.
The resort completed Phase One of a property-wide in 2022, including a total “revamp” of its Napua rooms and suites. It is the largest and most extensive renovation at the Grand Wailea since it opened in 1991. A variety of Native Hawaiian cultural programming is on offer at the newly-refurbished Grand Wailea, including Hawaii Land Trust Volunteer Days, the Hele Wai Eco Reserve Tour, hala-weaving classes, and the Grand Passport for children to explore and receive “stamps” for various lessons and activities.
Dining Options
Two dining options have been reinvented as ‘Ikena, a brunch restaurant, and Loulu a “grab-and-gourmet” option for quality and convenience. The Botero Lounge has been revitalized to feature many works by world-renowned Italian sculptor Fernando Botero, whose pieces were shipped to the Grand Wailea more than 30 years ago. It is the largest collection of Botero’s sculptures in the world.
Accommodations
Napua Tower guestrooms and suites at Grand Wailea Resort feature private lanais, rooms include fully stocked refreshment centers, in-room safes and high-speed Internet access. Select rooms feature views of the hotel’s garden, the ocean, or Mount Haleakala. All have been reimagined by Nina Chiappa Interiors.
The hotel boasts a water complex with nine interconnected pools. The adults-only Hibiscus Pool is huge at 4,850 square feet. The Wailea Canyon Activity Pool features four jungle pools, four tile slides, a white water rapids slide, and a Tarzan rope swing. While the Spa Grande is set to reopen in 2023 after extensive renovations, Mohalu by Spa Grande continues to offer an intimate and rejuvenating personal spa experience.
