Are you ready for an epic snorkeling adventure around Lanai? Awesome! We’re thrilled to have you and your family aboard for an unforgettable exploration of Lanai’s remote underwater world.
Start your day by checking in 30 minutes before departure at the Boss Frog’s store in Ma’alaea Harbor. A crew member will be waiting outside to assist you. We like to get an early start when the seas and breeze are usually calm. Relax on either of our two decks and, if you squint, you might catch a glimpse of Manele Bay across the Maui Nui Basin.
Shark Fin Rock, however, remains hidden until our double-decked vessel rounds the west coast of the island, revealing even more stunning landforms. Some, like Sweetheart Rock, are steeped in Hawaiian legend. Our engaging captain and crew, always full of aloha, will bring these ancient tales to life as they narrate your journey.
The nearshore waters of Lanai feature sheer cliffs, rugged rocks, and coral reefs teeming with colorful marine life. A large pod of spinner dolphins often inhabits the channel, and it’s common to see these incredible creatures diving, leaping, and swimming alongside the boat!
Due to Lanai’s less developed state compared to Maui, Oahu, or Kauai, and its small human population, the corals and other reef life here have more space and time to thrive. You’ll love exploring the snorkel sites! Whether you’re admiring the extensive coral reef of Manele Bay or the unique marine life around Shark Fin Rock, this Lanai snorkeling tour will leave you with lasting memories.
About the Location
Discover Lanai – One of the most unique snorkeling experiences near Maui is actually off Maui, on Lanai! Just 8.8 miles across the channel lies the Pineapple Isle, Maui’s closest neighbor. Once the site of the world’s largest pineapple plantation, Lanai is now home to two luxurious resorts with their own golf courses. Historically, it also served as a banishment site for Maui’s lawbreakers.
Our catamaran’s Lanai snorkeling tour offers you the chance to visit this amazing place! Lanai boasts incredible snorkeling spots and diverse marine life. Aboard Quicksilver, you might encounter spinner dolphins, known for their acrobatic jumps and twirls. Lanai is home to a huge pod of over one hundred of these social marine mammals.
Lanai’s snorkeling sites are located beneath towering cliffs over three hundred feet high, providing unbeatable photo opportunities. Few people in the world ever snorkel in these remote areas like Manele Bay and Shark Fin Rock, each offering visibility of up to one hundred feet.
