Are you planning a happy Mother’s Day in Hawaii? This is a great place to celebrate the holiday, especially if you’re here with kids.

Here are some of our favorite ideas for enjoying Mother’s Day in Hawaii, from simple walks to exciting excursions!

1. Go Outside!

You’re in Hawaii, so get outside and enjoy it! Drive around the island, walk around the shops on the North Shore, or go for a kid-friendly hike at Waimea Falls

And, of course, you can’t beat an old-fashioned Hawaii beach day. The beaches are typically busy on Mother’s Day, but just enjoy the hustle and bustle of happy families enjoying one of Hawaii’s favorite holidays.

2. Sea Life Park

Sea Life Park is a fun place for families to spend a beautiful Hawaii day. It’s scenic, educational, and lots of fun. In the past, Sea Life Park has offered free admission to mothers in mid-May. Hopefully, they bring back this tradition soon, as we think it’s a great promotion to bring in visitors and honor mothers.

3. Visit a Museum

The Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, Pacific Aviation Museum, and Bishop Museum are all open on Sundays. These are great places to entertain the entire family. Plus, the Pacific Aviation Museum and Bishop Museum are indoors, so they’re good options for a rainy (yet happy!) Mother’s Day in Hawaii, or if you simply need a break from the sun.

4. Happy Mother’s Day Hawaii Gift Fair

The day before Mother’s Day, head to the Ka Makana Aliʻi shopping center to find unique local gifts for mom. Some families use this as a chance to get last-minute surprises for mom, but we think this is a great place to go shopping with mom. Wish her a happy Mother’s Day in Hawaii by letting her pick out a unique, local souvenir.

5. A Picnic on the Beach

Pamper mom by grabbing some food and taking her to the beach. Let the kids run around in the sand and let mom soak in the sun while enjoying some Hawaiian food. If you drive along the North Shore, you can grab a picnic lunch from one of the food trucks scattered along Kamehameha Highway.

Nothing says “Happy Mother’s Day” like quality time, great food, and fun memories in Hawaii.

6. Cruise Around on the Star of Honolulu

The popular cruising company, “Star of Honolulu,” hosts a wonderful Hawaii Happy Mother’s Day Cruise on each of their boats. Enjoy a sunset sail, complete with dinner and entertainment. This sunset cruise is definitely a splurge, but it’s great if you’re looking for something different than the typical buffet or luau.

Tips for a Happy Mother’s Day in Hawaii

Are you ready to celebrate mom, island style? Remember to prioritize quality time over non-stop plans. After all, you’re in Hawaii, a place of relaxation and beauty. And be sure to ask Mom what she wants – you might be surprised by the ideas she has in mind!

No matter what you do, we want to wish you a Happy Hawaii Mother’s Day! We’re grateful for all the Moms who help their families enjoy vacations across Hawaii and throughout the world.
