We’ve curated a list of the most beautiful places to visit in Hawaii, so travel with us island-by-island to become wonderstruck by our most beloved sights.

You visit Hawaii in search of adventure, inspiration, and treasured memories. You’ll find all that and more in the islands. After all, Hawaii is a unique place with striking views and amazing things to do. And if you’re in search of beauty, you will be enthralled.

The hardest part about finding beautiful places to visit in Hawaii? Narrowing down your search. The good news: you really can’t go wrong. Join us as we showcase the stunning, sweeping, and photo-worthy sights of Hawaii.

What is the Most Beautiful Hawaiian Island?

Each island is unique and holds its own beauty. So, choosing your most beautiful place to visit in Hawaii may come down to your unique vision.

If I had to choose one single island that’s the most beautiful, I’d pick Maui. There are so many diverse sights and wonders, you really do see beauty at every turn. But I’m biased – I lived in Maui and got unique opportunities to see the island’s most hidden beauty.

So I’ll also give a special shoutout to Kauai. It’s a quiet island steeped in lush, romantic beauty. Some of my favorite beautiful places in Hawaii are located on Kauai: the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon, and Hanalei Bay are inspiring sights, and the small towns throughout the island are extra charming.

Still, we’ll highlight all the islands below so you can find beauty throughout Hawaii. Read along and let us know what spot is your favorite!

The Most Beautiful Places to Visit on Oahu, Hawaii

Oahu is one of the most popular islands to visit, and there’s lots to see and do once you’re here. There are also some obstacles you’ll face when finding Oahu’s natural beauty. Honolulu and Waikiki are built up with skyscrapers and development, and some popular spots charge admission. Still, you just need to keep your eyes open, ready to discover the Oahu that is rich with natural charm and wow-worthy scenery.

Waimea Valley

This north shore property features a paved pathway lined with tropical flowers and cultural demonstrations. And at the end, you’re treated to a waterfall swim that’s straight out of your Hawaii fantasies.

Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden

You may be familiar with the Instagram-famous image of Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden. It’s the verdant road with a striking mountain backdrop. The entire garden is full of photo-worthy sights. Plus, it’s free to visit. Not too bad for one of the most beautiful places in all of Hawaii!

Lanikai Beach

Lanikai Beach repeatedly ranks among the most beautiful beaches in the world. It’s also a fun place to visit in Hawaii, as you can swim, kayak, bodyboard, or simply walk along the soft sand. Here’s great info on the weather at Lanikai Beach so you can plan your visit!

Kualoa Ranch

There’s a little bit of everything at Kualoa Ranch. This sprawling property offers a range of adventures and tours, including horseback riding, ATV tours, Ziplining, and private beach days. You’ll also get a range of scenery: ranchlands, shorelines, jungles, and more – all in one place!

Byodo-In Temple

Looking for some tranquility on Oahu? Stop by the Byodo-In Temple. This hidden gem is located in Kaneohe. It’s a replica of a historic Japanese temple, and the architecture is stunning. Come for the temple structures and stick around for the natural scenery that surrounds them.

Lyon Arboretum

Lyon Arboretum is a public botanical garden managed by the University of Hawaii at Manoa. There are seven miles of hiking trails on this gorgeous property, and it’s just minutes away from downtown. There’s no charge to visit, but donations are highly encouraged.

Manoa Falls

Manoa Falls is one of the most popular hiking trails on Oahu, so this won’t be a secluded experience, but it’s still worth the visit. The hike is less than 2 miles, and it’s right in Honolulu.

Iolani Palace

America’s only palace is located right in the heart of Honolulu. This royal residence was built in 1882 and serves as a symbol of Hawaiian national identity. It’s also one of the most beautiful places to visit in Hawaii.

Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay is one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Hawaii. The gorgeous bay is just outside Honolulu, and conservation efforts have restored the area to a treasured destination. You’ll have to reserve a spot and pay admission to access Hanauma Bay, but most visitors say it’s totally worth it.

Keawaula Bay / Yokohama Beach

The Waianae Coast is one of our favorite Hawaii road trips, and the route leads to gorgeous Keawaula Bay. This spot, also known as Yokohama Beach, is the westernmost point of Oahu. Come walk along the glistening stretch of sand, enjoy the sunset views, and relish the chance to be in such a secluded spot.

Nuuanu Pali Lookout

If you’re traveling around Oahu, or looking for a quick place to visit during a day in Honolulu, you should check out the Nuuanu Pali Lookout. This historical site boasts sweeping views of Oahu’s windward coast and holds significant historical significance as a Hawaiian battleground. Be prepared for high winds that can make visiting both challenging and memorable.

Waikiki Beach

We couldn’t leave Waikiki Beach off our list of the most beautiful places to visit in Hawaii. Sure, this spot is busy and loud and urban, but if you look beyond that, you’ll see what makes Waikiki Beach the original tourist destination in Hawaii (and loved by Hawaiians long before that): glistening turquoise water, soft sand, and inspiring views of Diamond Head in the distance. Sure, you’re trying not to be too touristy, but give in just a little bit and enjoy a Mai Tai as the sun goes down.

Maui’s Most Beautiful Places to Visit

Like I mentioned, I’m biased toward Maui’s unique beauty. I’ve driven most of the roads in this Hawaiian island and learned the history of its most beautiful spots. And there’s so much for you to love about Maui, too. Check out these beautiful spots the next time you’re on the Valley Isle.

Honolua Bay

A full drive around West Maui may be beyond your itinerary, but you should still make your way to Honolua Bay. This beautiful shoreline just north of Kapalua is excellent for snorkeling. But it’s the walk there that really charms me. This lush, short hiking path could be straight out of a movie scene, and you’ll find plenty of photo backdrops to fill your Instagram feed.

Iao Valley State Park

If you venture to Maui’s small town of Wailuku, you’ll be treated to many small yet worthy adventures. One top sight? Iao Valley State Park. This gorgeous valley has striking views, and you’ll feel small yet empowered as you stand between the tall mountains.

Road to Hana

You know the cliche: it’s about the journey, not the destination. The Road to Hana embodies that phrase more than any other place in Hawaii. The long, winding road will lead you to a small coastal town, but that’s not what this trip is about. It’s about the sights along the way. So take your time, enjoy some hikes, and see what you discover on the Road to Hana. It’s full of the most beautiful places in Hawaii!

Waianapanapa State Park (Maui Black Sand Beach)

We could fill this post with stops along the Road to Hana, but we’ll keep it simple. One beautiful place we do want to highlight: Waianapanapa State Park. This is Maui’s famous black sand beach. It’s an unforgettable place to visit, with bright blue water lined with deep green vegetation and the striking black lava rock.

Ali’i Kula Lavender

Have you ever heard of Upcountry Maui? This region is a great place to spend a day, as you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Maui’s southern coast and cool, mountain temperatures. Plus, there are gorgeous flowers and fun shops to check out. Our favorite place upcountry just might be the Ali’i Kula Lavender farm. It’s a cheap place to visit on Maui and makes for amazing photos.

Haleakala National Park

You should definitely drive up to the summit of Haleakala while you’re on Maui. You can take common advice and go at sunrise for a unique experience, but if you’re not a morning person, don’t sweat it. This Hawaii National Park is a beautiful place at any time of day (though you may be impressed by its sunsets too!).

Ohe’o Gulch

This short, easy hike is likely your last stop along Hana Highway. This one is past town, so it will require some extra driving, but it’s definitely worth it. The overlook is jaw-dropping, and the walk you take to get there is full of beauty, too.

Oheo Gulch Maui

Napili Bay

Napili Bay is your quintessential Maui beach. Calm blue water, soft sand, and incredible sunset views. It’s a family-friendly spot that does get busy, so settle in and enjoy some time at this favorite beach.

Makena Beach

In South Maui, past the resorts and restaurants, you’ll find Makena Beach State Park. This is a long stretch of soft sand that is often good for swimming and watersports.

Waihee Ridge Trail

I like to think that this is a hidden gem on Maui. Waihee Ridge Trail is a steep, challenging 4-mile hike that offers gorgeous views and forested tranquility. You’ll find it just past Wailuku, nestled against the West Maui Mountains.

Molokini Crater

Here’s another beautiful place to snorkel in Hawaii: Molokini Crater. This islet off the southern coast of Maui is a popular destination for snorkeling excursions. Catamarans fill the crater’s calm bay most mornings, and you’ll love what you see underwater and in the azure scenery that surrounds you.

The Most Beautiful Places to Visit on Hawaii Island

Hawaii Island (AKA The Big Island) is full of unspoiled beauty. This is where you’ll find erupting volcanoes, tall mountain peaks, black sand beaches, and lush tropical wonders. Here are a few of our favorite places to visit on Hawaii Island.

Akaka Falls

Akaka Falls State Park is a popular hike that boasts Hawaii’s best natural beauty. Get up close to a towering waterfall as you walk through lush forests. It’s a paved hike with lots of stairs. Take it at your own pace and enjoy the scenery.

Hapuna Beach

Hapuna Beach is one of the best beaches on Hawaii Island. The white sand, calm water, and expansive size make it a popular spot for visitors and locals alike. Come enjoy the day at this Kohala Coast treasure.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the shining highlight of Hawaii Island. You don’t have to dedicate your entire vacation to the park, but be sure to visit for at least a half day – especially if you’re looking for beautiful places in Hawaii. The crater rim trail will treat you to short hikes and amazing views.

Thurston Lava Tube

Papakolea Green Sand Beach

If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, take the hike to Papakolea Green Sand Beach on Hawaii Island’s southern point. This is one of only four places in the world to feature green volcanic sand. You’ll need to hike 5.5 miles round trip to enjoy this beautiful place, and it’s an unforgettable journey.

Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is the highest point in all of Hawaii. Visit during the day for beautiful views, or book a nighttime tour to stargaze from the Mauna Kea Visitors Center or Summit

Beautiful Mauna Kea Stargazing in Hawaii

Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden

If you want to see Hawaii’s tropical beauty blooming around you, consider visiting Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. Located just north of Hilo, this private preserve features over a mile of scenic trails filled with photo-worthy spots.

Waipio Lookout

Want a sweeping view unlike any other? Take a road trip to Waipio Lookout. This Big Island spot overlooks a remote oceanside valley, where taro grows, horses wander, and residents live primarily off the grid. Book a guided tour to go into the valley, or appreciate the sights from above.

Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park

Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park features striking lava rock, historic structures, a pleasant walking trail, and calm waters for swimming. My favorite part? This area is often teeming with sea turtles, so it’s a great spot to catch a glimpse of these intriguing creatures.

Most Beautiful Places to Visit in Kauai, Hawaii

Kauai is often considered one of the most beautiful places in the world. Ample rainfall creates a lush environment in many areas, and there’s less development than on Oahu or Maui. Visit this island for a romantic couples trip to Hawaii, a relaxing family vacation, or a trip seeped in natural beauty.

Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon is so vast and deep, it’s hard to imagine it being a part of such a small island. Be sure to take a road trip to Waimea Canyon State Park – it’s an excellent destination for hiking, picnicking, and sightseeing.

Hanalei Bay

Hanalei Bay, on Kauai’s north shore, is a 2-mile crescent-shaped beach with gorgeous views. In the summer months, the water is calm and perfect for swimming. Visit in the winter to watch surfers. No matter the time of year, Hanalei Bay has stunning sunsets.

Na Pali Coast

Lush, uninhabited beauty. Towering emerald cliffs and shining water. This is Kauai’s Na Pali Coast, one of the most beautiful places to visit in Hawaii. Expert-level hiking trails will take you along the coast on foot, but we recommend seeing the Na Pali by boat.

Na Pali Coast one of the most beautiful places in Hawaii

Limahuli Garden & Preserve

Many botanical gardens showcase tropical blooms and manicured landscaping. But Limahuli is unique in how it showcases Native Hawaiian plant life, farming practices, and culture. The North Shore property is divine, and you’ll learn so much during your visit.

Fern Grotto

Deep in Kauai’s forest, along the Wailua River, is Fern Grotto. Its name says it all: the rocky grotto is rich with fern and greenery. Smith’s Kauai will take you on a boat tour to Fern Grotto. The grotto is beautiful to see, but you’ll only need a moment to take it all in. The boat tour also includes views along the river and music, so it’s a nice way to spend some time on Kauai.

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

Resorts aren’t typically the place to find natural beauty in Hawaii, but you can still enjoy lovely gardens and landscaping when you visit. Whether you stay in the hotel or visit for a walk, drink, or dinner, you can enjoy well-maintained grounds and a pleasant environment. One of the most beautiful resorts? 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, which is designed to reflect the landscape and magic of Hawaii’s Garden Isle.

Kilauea Point

Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge is the ultimate spot for bird watching, but that’s not all you can do at this great place in Kauai. This seaside lighthouse area has impressive views of the Pacific Ocean. When conditions are right, you may be able to see whales, dolphins, and sweeping coastal views.

Poipu Beach

Ok, we’ll admit that Poipu Beach is probably the most popular and busiest beach in all of Kauai. But for good reason! The weather here is excellent, and conditions are typically ideal for a wide range of activities. Come to sunbathe, swim, bodyboard, SUP, and snorkel. Join the many people who come to enjoy the fun and beauty of Poipu Beach.

Spouting Horn

There are a few blowholes you can see throughout Hawaii, but Spouting Horn may be our favorite. Water rushes through a lava tube and erupts into the air, often reaching heights of up to 50 feet. This is another popular place to visit in Kauai, but it’s worth the visit!

Tunnels Beach

Tunnels Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Hawaii and one of the most beautiful places to visit. In the summer, the water is typically calm and clear, making it perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, or simply floating around. Find beauty underwater, where colorful fish swim among the lava rock. Or, take in the views around you, where the Na Pali coastal cliffs loom over the ocean.
