On our newest Hawaii Vacation Connection Podcast, Aloha Bruce and Lanai Tabura delve deeply into Family fun activities on Kauai for outdoor adventures in Hawaii. Experts in all things related to Hawaii vacations, our hosts note that many families are unaware of the vast selection of outdoor adventures available on the Garden Isle.
As always, Lanai encourages visitors to “turn off the wi-fi!” Too often, he notes, young people vacationing with their families are glued to screens, oblivious to the natural wonders that surround them. “Phones off!” Lanai says.
On western Kauai’s Gold coast is the Gaylord Plantation Railway, which operates a steam engine in the tradition of the sugar plantation days of the mid-1800s. Lanai notes that it is an actual “choo-choo” train. Kids love choo-choo trains! There is also an excellent, locally sourced restaurant and family luau at the Gaylord Plantation.
Other family fun activities on Kauai among visitors include “tubing” through a vast network of hand-dug irrigation ditches and tunnels on inflatable tire tubes. It’s an eco-friendly family activity that rides along freshwater from Kauai’s rich aquifer that stretches all the way to the peak of Mount Waialeale, which is famous as the “wettest place on Earth”. There are also family all-terrain vehicle rentals available on Kauai. The most popular is the Kipu Ranch experience, which takes families into stunning vistas that have been featured in blockbuster movies like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Jurassic Park”. Aloha Bruce and Lanai get deeper into the variety of family outdoor adventures available on the Garden Isle, including panoramic (and very safe) zip-lining, snorkeling, and Wailua River kayaking (and a lazy canoe ride inspired by Elvis Presley’s Hawaiian heyday).
Hawaii Aloha Travel and the Hawaii Vacation Connection Podcast have all of the expertise you and your family will ever need to book the perfect family outdoor adventure on the beautiful Garden Isle of Kauai.
