Staying Cool on Hot Hawaiian Summer Days

Okay, summer has finally hit Hawaii. And with unrelenting humidity! For the past couple weeks we’ve been seeing highs close to 90 degrees and lows only dropping to around 75 degrees. And with the recent tropical storm generating in the Eastern Pacific, we’ve had cloud coverage that just locks in the humidity, with very little trade winds to cool us off. Now is a great time to find refreshment in the tropical ocean or in the fresh waters of a waterfall!

Today’s podcast we have a variety of current news topics to discuss. First up is the cost of a Hawaii vacation and if it’s getting too high to handle. We’ll give you the average room rates for this month and tell you a little but about how they’ve changed from last year. You’ll also hear a Hawaii Tourism Authority spokesperson shed some insight into the topic as well.

Next we’ll talk about Alan Wong, one of Hawaii’s most loved chefs and how he recently made history. A couple other new topics are the finished Aqua Hospitality renovation in Waikiki and the seasonal flights from Canada to Hawaii being introduced through WestJet. And lastly we’ll give you an update on Affinity China and what their plans are with American Express.

To finish off the show, we’ve got a great feature conversation topic for you. And just in time for this warm summer weather! On today’s show we’ll give you some pointers on how to stay cool during your vacation here in Hawaii. Local trends, pulse points and sunscreen- what do they all have in common? Find out on this show’s feature topic!
