The Disney Aulani Resort & Spa in Ko Olina on Oahu’s west side is expanding its guest amenities. The project is scheduled to begin in September of 2012 and expected to finish mid-2013, and although there aren’t too many details about the specifications of the project, it is happening in conjunction with the final build-out of the property. Disney’s Aulani opened in August 2011 and offers a Disney property with a decidedly Hawaiian theme, boasting 840 units, beach front property along turquoise coastlines, casual and high end dining options, and outdoor pool and activity areas that rival even the most luxurious Hawaiian resorts.

Vice president and GM of Aulani, Elliot Mills, states that this resort has one of the most extensive arrays of outdoor pool experiences for guests, from lazy rivers to a water slide to a saltwater snorkeling lagoon.

Part of the project is the expansion of the Waikolohe Valley pool, which features pools, rivers, and lounge and cabana areas. The outdoor pool area is also planned to design and include two new quick-service dining options for guests that will allow poolside services and daytime food selections. The ever-popular Starlit Hui show that is a family favorite will also be moving to a large venue space, so that more guests can attend and the show can accommodate a larger audience in a more comfortable setting. More extensive details will be available soon, so keep an eye out for what’s coming up at the new Ko Olina Disney resort and spa.
