"Super location for traveling around the island. Not a swimmable beach, but awesome ocean views. Great family resort as well. This is a good budget option."

Situated on 12 beachfront acres in Kapaa Town along eastern Kauai’s Coconut Coast, Pono Kai Resort is perfect for relaxing retreats, active family vacations, or romantic getaways. The resort offers one- and two-bedroom units, mini-suites, and studios. One- and two-bedroom unit amenities include fully equipped kitchens, partial air conditioning, and high-speed internet access. Mini-suites and studios are equipped with convenient kitchenette facilities. Resort amenities include lighted tennis courts, shuffleboard facilities, a croquet lawn, barbecue grills, saunas, a swimming pool, and a jet spa.

Guests staying at Pono Kai Resort are welcomed to the island lifestyle with a weekly island orientation and complimentary refreshments. Those eager to learn more about the Hawaiian culture may take part in on-site arts and crafts activities as well as traditional lei-making classes.

The resort is conveniently located just eight miles from the airport, and many sought after destinations on Kauai are within an hour of the property. Guests looking to take in all of Kauai’s natural wonders in one all-encompassing tour may do so via convenient helicopter tours.

Those looking to explore the island’s unique terrain can take part in a variety of on and off-shore excursions including hiking, horseback riding, SUV tours, snorkeling excursions, kayaking, catamaran sailing, and whale-watching tours. Parts of the famous Na Pali coast may be explored on foot, but more obscure angles and viewpoints can be accessed via raft, sailboat, or catamaran. Kauai is the only Hawaiian island with navigable rivers and waterways. Scenic riverboat cruises along the Wailua River depart regularly from Wailua Marina State Park. Those looking to take part in more leisurely activities should be sure to visit the local farmers market, nearby cultural and historical sites, and craft shows.
