The Grand Luau at Honua’ula
The Grand Luau at Honua’ula, located on the beachfront in South Maui, is Wailea’s finest, most entertaining Hawaiian feast. This luau takes the audience back in time to when the brave Polynesians discovered the lands of Hawaii, thus renaming themselves Hawaiian. The performers give a detailed account of the beginning of the Islands of Hawaii, their religious practices, gods and goddesses, and storytelling that weaves together legends and folklore inherent in the local culture.
You will enjoy an array of entertainment, complete with the colorful feather headdresses of traditional Tahitian dancing, florally decorated hula dancers, male dancers with crowns of laua’e fern, exhilarating fire dancing, and even aerobatics from palm trees!
Honua’ula, literally meaning “sacred lands,” is named from the Tahitian voyagers. The natural land visible right from your chair is incorporated into the storytelling, giving viewers a concrete image of the ancient accounts. Along with the entertainment, you’ll be able to play games, get temporary Hawaiian tattoos, and watch the imu (Hawaiian underground oven) ceremony as they unearth the pua’a (pig). The food is served buffet style, complete with all the local favorites, and you’ll also enjoy a full bar, mixing up tropical drinks such as mai tais, coladas, and spiked punches.
Join the grand luau production at Honua’ula, rated as the best luau in the 2011 Maui News Poll. You will be happy with the service, entertainment, and the aloha experience!
