Tomorrow is a day dedicated entirely to the gooey fireside treat that’s so delicious, it’s got everyone shouting, “Gimme some more!” National S’more Day happens every August 10, but in Hawaii, any weekend camping trip could qualify as a s’more celebration of its own. I’m obsessed with anything s’more – s’more cookies, brownies, ice cream…you name it! The best part? You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it.

What exactly is a s’more? It’s a popular campfire snack made of a roasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham crackers. And there’s no doubt that people from Hawaii have localized the melt-in-your-mouth delight by spreading homemade guava and lilikoi jams on the crackers or combining the s’more idea with haupia, a traditional coconut dessert. You’re also very likely to see s’more as a flavor on the menu at many specialty cupcake shops and bakeries. Let Them Eat Cupcakes in Chinatown has a s’more cupcake that’s To.Die.For.

Since Hawaii pretty much has the best weather on the planet, a beachside barbecue or camping trip always seems to be appropriate no matter which day of the week it is. Speaking of, it’s almost the weekend, so why not get it started the right way? With a tasty s’more in celebration of National S’more Day!
