It is not uncommon for successful Hawaii businesses to expand to neighboring islands, like Kauai’s Brick Oven Pizza did. The pizzeria has been a mainstay on the Garden Isle for more than three decades, and with success bursting at the seams, it was only a matter of time before Brick Oven branched out.
Today, Brick Oven boasts four locations – two on Kauai and two on Oahu. The quality of their “super pizza,” as they’ve dubbed it, remains the same. It’s just the change of scenery that has been adding a different kind of flavor to this pizzeria.
Every time we’re on Kauai, we try to make a stop at Brick Oven Pizza in Kalaheo. Sometimes for a sit down, other times just to grab a slice and go. We love the Hawaiian BBQ chicken pizza and the “Super” Pizza (mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, lean beef, smoked ham, green onions and bell peppers). It will be exciting to get a taste of this hearth-baked carb on Oahu, as opposed to waiting a year for our Kauai vacation.
To me, Brick Oven doesn’t even compare to big-time pizza chains, like Pizza Hut or Domino’s. Every pie, every salad, every dish has a homemade touch to it that I really admire about this family business. You can tell a lot of TLC had been put into the making of each dish, as opposed to the mass-produced pizza pies you might get elsewhere.
Not only does Brick Oven have that homemade touch but also tons of awards to prove they’re number one in island pizza. From Best Pizza to Best Salad, they have been getting first for years now and hopefully continue the trend on Oahu. Of course, you can’t take my word for it. Try Brick Oven for yourself!
