Let’s face it: sitting on a beach towel isn’t the most ideal set up for soaking up the rays or relaxing after a swim in the ocean. Sand gets everywhere; your back and butt start to ache a little. Not to mention, those blasts of sand on windy days that force you to shield yourself or take cover. Ouch! This isn’t the Hawaii vacation you had in mind.
Wish you were here! Hawaii Beach Time makes this a reality for its customers.
That’s what local guy Ryan Weed discovered when relatives came to visit. He told us, “the only place they could get a nice resort-style experience with the right chairs, shade, cold drinks and adventure gear was in Waikiki…and Ko Olina.” But we all know that there’s more to Hawaii than just Waikiki, which has unfortunately become the epitome of a perfect Hawaiian getaway. There are tons of beaches to explore, so why shouldn’t visitors get that “resort-style” experience everywhere else?
The answer to that question lies in Ryan’s recently launched business venture, Hawaii Beach Time. He brings the experience to you; beach chairs, umbrellas, canopy tents and coolers with ice. Following their slogan to “Come Play,” Hawaii Beach Time delivers the necessary gear for fun – surfboards, paddle boards, boogie boards, kayaks, snorkel gear and floating tubes. There are life vests and water guns for the keiki (children) and volleyball nets for those who prefer some action on land.
Nothing like getting sandy and sweaty with some good ‘ole beach volleyball.
What I like about Hawaii Beach Time is that they’re all about the customers – from the affordable “value packages” that are tailored to specific Oahu beaches to the insider’s scoop on the best places for snorkeling, surfing and so on. Ask away because no question is a dumb one. The packages last four hours and include specific items you might need for Waikiki, Ala Moana, Sunset and Lanikai. Customers are able to add more items as they see fit. Currently, the company also provides kayak excursions to the Kaneohe sandbar, a windward Oahu gem.
“We bend over backwards for people all the time to make sure their beach day is awesome,” said Ryan, who plans to expand Hawaii Beach Time to Maui and parts of the Big Island. Maui operations should start up by early 2013.
Hawaii Beach Time not only brings the fun and relaxation to customers, but it prevents them from having to buy this stuff for just a few times of use. Like Ryan pointed out, the rental stands we see today are limited to a few areas on the island; Hawaii Beach Time allows visitors to choose their beach of choice rather than the rental companies choosing for them. We love this concept and can’t wait to see this little company grow!
