The new juice bar on Kauai can be found in the unlikeliest of places – at the far back corner of a small mom-and-pop grocery store. But that hasn’t kept business from booming for Aloha Aina Juice Bar; after all, isn’t that what the good ‘ole “coconut wireless” is for?
We found out about the new juice bar through word of mouth, as I had not seen any advertisements for it but heard great things about the business. A bar is set up in the back of Kukuiula Market in Koloa, where the buzz of blenders and hand-painted wooden signeage welcome thirsty customers. Hop up to a bar stool and watch them make each order right in front of you.
We spent six days on Kauai for the holidays and came here almost everyday! There’s definitely something nice about a cold treat after a long day at the beach. Each time, my fiance and I tried a different acai bowl or smoothie and were equally impressed with the freshness and quality. Aloha Aina Juice Bar uses all local, organic ingredients from around Kauai – so customers are not only supporting this local business but local farmers as well.
Out of everything we tried, my favorite had to be the Chunky Monkey acai bowl (pictured at top above; second picture is the Aloha Berry bowl). Topped with apple bananas, sliced strawberries, granola from Anahola, chocolate chips and – of course – local honey, this one is a real treat for your sweet tooth. Especially because they blend the frozen acai with organic peanut butter! I don’t think I’ve every had a more amazing acai concoction.
For such a small business, Aloha Aina Juice Bar sure is definitely generous with its portions. Our acai bowls were always overflowing with fresh ingredients; so much so, that it was a little difficult to eat at first, but once we figured out a method, there was no stopping us from devouring every last sticky morsel.
