Could Boise and Spokane be the next “gateway cities” to Hawaii? That’s what Hawaii Tourism Authority president Mike McCartney is saying, after Allegiant Air announced today more nonstop service to the islands. The company will begin flights from Idaho and Washington state in early February, making Allegiant the first airlines to offer nonstop service from both cities to Hawaii.
“Allegiant’s entry into the Hawaii market has opened up new gateway cities for the state,” McCartney said in a press release. “We are pleased to welcome direct service from Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Wash. and look forward to supporting Allegiant’s service and promoting unique experiences for our guests to the Hawaiian Islands.”
Get your ticket while they’re still available for sale at the introductory fare, that’s as low as $180 one way. The flights from Honolulu International Airport to Spokane begins Feb. 9, 2013 while flights to Boise start a day before. Flights must be purchased by Aug. 14, 2012 for travel by April 16, 2013.
Allegiant announced earlier this year service from seven existing markets to Honolulu and from one existing market to Maui. The carrier’s president, Andrew Levy, said in a press release that, “We are thrilled to be growing our presence in Hawaii so quickly,” and “anticipate the new service will be very popular.”
