Every year, several Hawaii landmarks get transformed into gingerbread versions at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani hotel in Waikiki. They become part of a global winter wonderland that showcases significant structures throughout the world – from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to London’s Tower Bridge.

Hawaii’s iconic places that have taken on a rather tastier facade include, Kawaihao mission church, the Moana Surfrider hotel and Iolani Palace. Gingerbread sculptors added the Aloha Tower last year, as the most recent piece in this snow globe of global places. Together, these gingerbread figures took about six weeks to create.
Amazing dedication by the team of professional pastry chefs that no doubt take gingerbread houses to a new level. Every year before the holidays, they spend about 800 hours designing, constructing and setting up the final art piece. The village of gingerbread structures stands at over 14-feet high and 24-feet wide. It goes without saying that these chefs are hardcore.

And from the Hawaiian flag posted outside of the palace to the ticking clocks atop Aloha Tower, the gingerbread sculptors made sure to pay close attention to the tiniest details. And here’s a sugar overload for you: The team used 250 gallons of icing, 150 pounds of dark chocolate, 50 pounds of white chocolate and 90 sheets of gingerbread. You could practically have swam laps in those buckets of chocolate!
