On Sunday, March 17, Honolulu’s “Irish Corner” in Chinatown will again be the scene of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the Pacific.
It follows the annual parade through Waikiki, which is itself a great way for Oahu visitors to mingle with residents at one of the most anticipated events of the year. But the Murphy’s Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party will see many thousands of revelers enjoying the food, refreshments and live entertainment that starts at noon and goes until 10pm.
More than just a party however, the Murphy’s St. Patrick’s Day Block Party will, as always, benefit worthy Hawaii non-profit organizations always in need of support. In its over 30 years, the Murphy’s Bar & Grill’s Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party has supported vital local charities with a generous portion of its proceeds.
Don and Marion Murphy and their expert line of chefs will cook 3,000 pounds of corned beef in preparation for the block party. Because Saint Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday in 2019, attendance is expected to soar.
We blog about Hawaii
because we love Hawaii.
Murphy’s commitment to community remains as strong as ever over 30 years, and indeed, continues to grow. 100 flower lei will be presented to the first ladies to arrive. For the kids, the Keiki Booth will feature crafts and treats, and the adults can enter to win a handmade Murphy’s Shamrock Quilt handmade by Marion Murphy.
In addition to the support the Murphy’s Bar & Grill Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party provides the community, it continues to offer attendees delicious menu items. This year’s menu includes corned beef and cabbage, steamed clams, fresh salmon, fresh oysters, and Marion Murphy’s legendary Irish Whiskey Cake and Bread Pudding with Irish Whiskey Sauce. This year’s event includes a variety of other fresh, hot menu items as well: lamb shank, grilled steak, calamari, and shrimp among them.
Live music is always a favorite attraction at the block party, of course. This year Doolin Rakes returns to the block party’s Main Stage with Honolulu’s favorite brand of Irish pub rock and roll, followed by the vintage soul of The Elevations, then the Blue Light Funk Band. There will be roving carolers throughout the day.
Geared to visitors and residents alike, the Murphy’s Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party is the best way to get your Irish up.
