Saturday Screenings of Landmark Films with Admission Proceeds to Benefit Local Non-Profits
Over the years, Hawaii has been home to the filming of a number of blockbuster films. For example, the iconic Kualoa Ranch on Oahu serves as the backdrop for the original Jurassic Park film, and to many other films in the series. To this day, Kualoa Ranch continues to offer movie tours of their property. Here, you can see where epic scenes were shot for Jurassic Park as well as for Lost, Godzilla, Hawaii Five-0, 50 First Dates, and more.
For obvious reasons, filmmakers continue to come to the Hawaiian islands to shoot their films and television shows. In fact, the Jurassic Park films continue to be filmed on Oahu. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was also filmed here, and it will be released in 2018. In fact, you never know quite when you will drive by a film set on Oahu.
Through films and television shows, people all over the world learn about Hawaii. Films like Jurassic Park have brought the scenery of Hawaii right to people’s homes. And, Disney’s Moana has taken the country by storm, showcasing Hawaii’s culture and featuring Auli’i Cravalho, who was born in Hawaii.
Of course, Hawaii is an amazing place to film movies. But I also think that it’s a also an awesome place to go watch a movie. When it’s hot outside and I’ve spent the entire day at the beach in the hot sun, one of my favorite ways to cool down at night is at the movies. There is no place with air conditioning quite like the movies. I love to bring a blanket and cozy up in the air-conditioned theatre with popcorn. It’s one of the best ways to cool off.
One thing that prevents me from going to the movies as often as I like is the astronomical ticket prices. But today, I have good news for movie lovers who want to save money! This fall, Consolidated Theatres is offering $4 movies every Saturday, all to benefit charity.
Celebrating a centennial milestone, Consolidated Theatres is rolling back the reel on 100 years of movie memories with its Anniversary Charity Screenings, featuring A Film for Every Decade. Consolidated Theatres will be giving back to both audiences and nonprofits, offering Saturday screenings of iconic films beginning in August.
The screenings will be offered every Saturday at 10:00 am from August 26 through October 28. All Consolidated Theatres locations will participate.
Some of the iconic movies on the lineup take place in Hawaii. Others include Hawaii as a stunning backdrop. How cool would it be to watch a movie that was filmed in Hawaii, in Hawaii?
Guests can purchase tickets priced at just $4 for each screening. Proceeds will benefit charitable organizations throughout the Hawaii community. These organizations include the Hawaii Arts Alliance, Hawaii Public Radio, PBS Hawaii, Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii, and Ronald McDonald House Charities Hawaii. Also, public service announcements will also be screened before each film to maximize awareness for the important work of these groups.
Consolidated Theatres offers these deals because they wanted to mark a century of entertaining Hawaii. They also wanted to acknowledge some of the wonderful local organizations making a difference in so many lives here. In addition, Consolidated Theatres carefully chose the film lineup to reflect each decade of its 100 years. These unforgettable stories will bring audiences together across generations and all for a great cause.
