Experience the Best of Honolulu Festival on August 5

Want to experience the best that Honolulu has to offer? Of course, you do!

So, mark your calendar. The 2nd Annual Best of Honolulu Festival presented by American Savings Bank will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2017. This free event will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Honolulu Hale Civic Grounds.

If you’ve ever been to Honolulu, then you know that parking is usually hard wherever you go. But at the Best of Honolulu Festival, there will be plenty of free parking at the Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building parking lot located at the corner of Alapa‘i and Beretania streets.

There are so many great things to do in Honolulu. This family-friendly event combines so much about what makes Honolulu great, featuring ono food (good food), a keiki zone (children’s zone), entertainment, and a marketplace. Enjoy local food, shop from local vendors, and learn about community initiatives that make Honolulu so great.

Start the Day with A Family Fun Run

Before the Best of Honolulu Festival, there will be a Family Fun Run presented by Kaiser Permanente. The Fun Run will include a fun-filled course with entertainment, snacks, and selfie stations, so you and your ohana (family) will get moving while raising money for the school of your choice. Sign up here for a morning of fun!

The event beings 8:30 am. Keiki ages 3–10 years old can participate in a 500-meter dash. Family members of all ages can enter the 3K fun run and enjoy a leisurely walk/run.

Health And Wellness Zone

Kaiser Permanente will sponsor this fun-filled area with tips and games to keep your entire family healthy and happy.

Try Tons of Local Food

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, then you know I’m all about trying lots of local food while you’re here. The Best of Honolulu Festival is a great place to try local food because many different vendors will be in attendance.

After working up a sweat with your keiki in the morning at the Fun Run, fuel up on ‘ono grinds from BAO TAO’N, Inferno’s Pizza, Da Hawaiian Poke Co. and more. Don’t forget dessert—Sweet Revenge will be debuting its new gelato pies, while Il Gelato Hawaii will be dishing out some favorite flavors to beat the heat. Newcomer ICE HNL will serve up cold drinks.

Keiki Zone

Dave and Busters will sponsor a keiki zone, where keiki can play free games and win prizes. ColorWhims Hawaii will offer face painting, balloon animals, and glitter tattoos.

Enclosed Toddler Play Area

MyGym will be providing a mobile gym set that keiki can enjoy for free!

Pampering for the Adults

There really is something for everyone. The European Wax Center will offer samples of its body, face, and brow products, as well as free brow consultations. Visitors to their booth that post an image of their brows using the #EWC808 hashtag that day will be entered to win a $50 gift card to the European Wax Center.

Shop from some of Hawaii’s best local vendors – all in one place! You can get lots of souvenir shopping done all in one place. Plus, some items will be on sale. Coco Moon will be offering discounts on most of its baby clothing collections, with some items marked as low as 60 percent off. Local designer favorite Jana Lam will return sporting new cross-body bags featuring adjustable leather straps, a new everyday tote and new, colorful prints. Other hot picks include Yireh’s summery, socially conscious dresses, HVN Apparel’s upcycled tees made from plastic bottles and Kira Hawai‘i’s locally crafted timeless jewelry pieces.

Community Booths

Several of Hawaii’s service organizations will be in attendance, from Make-A-Wish Hawaii to the Hawaiian Humane Society. But no matter where you are from, you can benefit from these organizations’ resources. Child-care and development organization PATCH will be offering free resources on child development and parenting, and other useful services and information for families and children.

Live Entertainment

Another great thing about this festival is that you will get to hear live entertainment. Catch favorites including headliners Kimie Miner and Paula Fuga at the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® Card and Mileage Plan stage, then pump up the jams with DJ 720 and DJ Jimmy Taco. Na‘ehu, Shawn Garnett, and The Performing Artist Academy’s “Rhapsody” Choir will also perform.
