“Lets go surfing now. Everybody’s learning how; come on and safari with me!”
The Beach Boys will be back in Hawaii to perform hit songs like, “Surfin Safari,” “Surfin USA” and “Kokomo.” Their concert will be in tandem with the 50th anniversary of the Blaisdell Arena. In 1964, the arena opened its doors for the first time, with The Beach Boys as one of their first musical attractions.
This was right around the time the band released the song, “Hawaii,” which made Australia’s top 10 hits. In fact, the Hawaiian Islands inspired The Beach Boys to write many other songs, such as another hit, “Kona Coast.”
The second Hawaii concert will be on Jan. 12, 2014. Everyone who attends the concert gets a special 50th Anniversary limited edition lithograph that commemorates the event. They will also be performing on Maui a few days before on Jan. 10, 2014.
Tickets go on sale Dec. 14 at Blaisdell box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, including Walmart. Also, expect to pay at least $50 for a seat at the show, with prices expected to increase as the event draws nearer.
