Who would have thought that pairing mochi ice cream with coffee could be so wonderful!
After a chilly bodysurf at Sandy’s and lack of sleep, we desperately searched for a coffee shop in Hawaii Kai. Starbucks had been an option, but meh. Wasn’t into it, so we strolled around the shopping center until we remembered Bubbie’s sold coffee.
And very good coffee, might I add. They have a full-on espresso machine that whips up everything from lattes to cappuccinos. I got the mocha, and the fiance got the cappuccino. They were delicious and definitely helped me to defrost. Even Noa, the coffee snob, liked it.
Of course, we couldn’t go to Bubbie’s without getting mochi ice cream, so we got a pumpkin and a chocolate for starters. Cheers to that idea! The blend of cold on your tongue and then the warmth to wash it down made for a nice treat. I can’t wait to go back and have that exact combo; hopefully before the holidays are over, since pumpkin is Bubbie’s seasonal flavor.
If you’re hoping to get a cup of coffee from Bubbie’s, then wait until you start craving that afternoon cup of joe. Bubbie’s opens at 12 p.m. Definitely worth waiting for, though, and I’d highly recommend one for a late pick-me-up.
