Exploring Ala Moana’s Center Court

There’s a lot you should know about Hawaii’s largest outdoor shopping mall, and it starts with the Center Court.

As the hub of the Ala Moana Shopping Center, this area serves as a gathering place for hundreds of shoppers at any given time. In fact, the mall just revealed a newly-renovated center court – as part of a multimillion-dollar improvement project. Meaning, there’ll be many changes for shoppers that require some getting used to.

Among the biggest changes, a slew of new shops – offering everything from Hawaiian-style quilts to Japanese confectionaries. Some existing Ala Moana shops have relocated to call center court their new home as well. These include stores like, Valerie Joseph, True Friends, Swatch and Lupicia.

Those shoppers who have been to Ala Moana prior to these major renovations will also notice the added space to its walkways and restrooms. This creates easier access for shoppers through the street level of the shopping center. The mall updated common areas for shoppers to sit and hang out, as well as its customer service center.

But perhaps what makes Ala Moana’s Center Court so special is its center stage. At least once a week, the stage hosts a wonderful assortment of Hawaiian music and dance for shoppers to enjoy. Crowds gather in front of the stage or watch from the second-floor seating area. No matter where in the mall you are, you will hear the sounds of Hawaii resonate throughout your shopping experience. Definitely a treat for any island shopper to enjoy!
