Kanye West put all men to shame when he rented out an entire baseball stadium to propose to then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian. As for couples in Hawaii? Well, the Aloha Stadium will just have to do, especially since fans can now post messages during football games.
It’s meant to make game days even more memorable, but I think it’s more of a last-ditch effort to raise the morale for University of Hawaii fans. And given the team’s track record this season, every little effort counts! Especially if those messages are words of encouragement to the team, like, “Keep Fighting, Warriors!” LOL.
I know the stadium means well, but this family-friendly messaging system seems so…yesterday, for lack of a better word. Fans may email their message – whether a birthday shout out or a marriage proposal – to the stadium staff and wait for it to pop up on the Jumbotron. If they wanted to make it super hip, they would allow fans to text or Tweet during the game. But I can see that getting out of hand for those unhappy, maybe drunk, fans.
I think what would really bring up the morale in the stadium on game day would be more vendors. It seems there have been the same few vendors working the stadium for years now; Hawaii fans might want something different because we all know that the way to someone’s heart is through their tummy. So maybe fan will have a change of heart when it comes to rooting for the home team.
