Honolulu Night Market: Runway

This month’s Night Market is all about fashion.

In celebration of Hawaii’s first Fashion Month (every October), there will be tons of glitz and glam for girls, guys and the keiki. I am especially looking forward to seeing Fall/Winter 2013 fashion debuted on the runway. From the latest must-haves to the best up-and-comings, fashion experts will surely put on a show for all shapes and sizes.

What is Night Market? It is a fairly new event in Kakaako that happens every month and focuses on fashion, food, entertainment and shopping. The “Salt” warehouse has become ever-famous for its chic and stylish finds – from bikinis to jewelry to works of art. It really does take some self-restraint when shopping in Salt.

Outside of the warehouse, a mainstay features local entertainment and usually a small fashion show. There are also several street performances throughout the three-or-so blocks of Kakaako, including belly dancers and acrobats. A few months ago, Red Bull took up the entire stretch of one street for crazy motocross stunting.

Food can be easy to find. The hard part is figuring out what to eat. There is usually an eclectic spread of eateries. Some of the local businesses remain opened for the Night Market, too. Yet another chance to support local! And yet another chance to support an event giving rise to the cause!
