Hawaii Resident Takes on ‘Best Job in the World’

Hawaii resident Cody Mafatu Easterbrook has a pretty neat story that would most definitely qualify for our Aloha Abroad series. KHON 2 News reported on this fella from Laie, who is on a quest to becoming a Chief World Explorer (CWO).

Travel site Jauntaroo launched the contest in search of someone who could travel the globe for one year and make $100,000. Cody thinks he fits the bill. According to the news story, in addition to being an elementary teacher and Polynesian Cultural Center luau emcee, Cody is a travel blogger.

He worked with orphans in Bolivia for two years before returning to the islands, and it was during this time that he decided to write about his adventures abroad. Since then, he has continued his passion for writing, blogging, taking pictures and making videos. A passion that has helped him make it to the top 50.

The public can vote daily until the end of October 2013 (www.bestjobaroundtheworld.com/submissions). From there, the top five will be flown to an undisclosed location for a round of interviews, according to the report. How exciting is that! I am so rooting for this local boy to make it to the top. In addition to his vast list of travels (Greece, Fiji, Canada, to name a few), there is no doubt Cody is well-accustomed to persity around the world. Living in a place mixed with nationalities, like Hawaii, helps in that department.

Whether he wins or not, we know that we can count on Cody to be yet another ambassador of Aloha for the islands!
