As a travel agent, Bruce Fisher gets asked a lot of questions about Hawaii – some legit, others funny. But never a dumb one! 🙂 Probably one of the most common, though, “Can you drive to the other islands?”
Unfortunately, that is not possible. There are no bridges connecting the islands – just miles upon miles of ocean in between. But imagine how cool of a drive that would be! Definitely scenic…and also a little scary to think that you could fall into the ocean at any given moment. Bridge maintenance would be a pain!
Or what about a tunnel at the bottom of the sea, a transpacific one… that would really change the game for Hawaii residents and visitors.
There used to be a daily ferry that traveled in between the major islands but that didn’t last very long. Many people were against the Super Ferry because it started its services without much discussions on how it would impact residents, the environment and the economy.
We have to remember that most times, people who ask these kind of questions have never been to Hawaii nor do they know anyone who lives here. To them, Hawaii is just a far-off place that one can only hope to one day visit. They look to Bruce and his team of very patient and very helpful agents for answers.
So, keep those questions coming, and we’ll try our best to get you those answers!
