Stop by and smell the lavender!

Alii Kula Lavender Farm is definitely one of my favorite stops on Maui, as a unique backroads adventure in agritourism. Located on Haleakala Crater, the farm takes visitors beyond the beach and into nature, where it’s a treat for all senses. Breathe in the lovely lavender scents or tickle your taste buds with lavender tea and scones.

Known for relaxation and serenity, lavender has an earthy scent that will put anyone in meditation mode. Visitors can stroll through the gardens on their own or take a tour. Best thing about the tour is that you’ll usually end up with a small bouquet of fresh-cut flowers that the guide gives to you. We got fresh clippings of French lavender and proteas.

It’s best to visit the lavender garden during the early morning or late afternoon hours. The weather’s much more pleasant then, as opposed to the scorching sun you may experience during the middle of the day. If it’s overcast, you might just find yourself walking through clouds because of how high up the farm is on the mountainside.

My most favorite part of the lavender farm is the tea time! After a stroll through the gardens, it’s always nice to sit back on the open-air patio and enjoy the luscious lavender tea and scones. In fact, I’d go to the farm just to eat the scones. They’re so good. And almost just as good is the breathtaking panoramic view of the Maui coast below. It just doesn’t get better than that!
