Keeping the Holidays Simple at Big Island Candies

Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies. Need I say more?

Be honest, neighbor-islanders. If your co-worker comes to visit the Big Island and doesn’t bring back a box of chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies for the office, you’re going to wonder why, right?

Big Island Candies was established in 1977 and is now one of the most popular destinations on the Big Island for visitors who want to take home a gift to share with their friends. For the last few years, I’ve also taken advantage of the near-universal adoration for their cookies and chocolates each year at Christmas. This is one-stop shopping at its finest!

Not only will someone greet you at the door with a complimentary cookie sample and an offer of Kona coffee before you begin your shopping, they also make it really simple to ship beautifully boxed items to the mainland, Canada and Japan. It’s almost impossible to go wrong with a gift from Big Island Candies!

I stopped this weekend to pick up a few items for the gift exchange at my company Christmas party. It shouldn’t be a surprise that I also left with a box of cookies to have with our morning coffee back at home.

If you’re planning a visit to Hilo, set aside a few minutes to stop by and wander through the store. You can even watch the products they sell being made on-site. If you can’t make it to the Big Island, no worries! They have a great website – bigislandcandies.com – where you can order or sign up for their catalogs.
