After millions of dollars in renovations, two Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts show off their face-lifts
Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts boasts two oceanfront Resorts in Hawaii, the Royal Kona Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii and the Royal Lahaina Resort on Kaanapali Beach, Maui. After spending millions of dollars on refurbishments at both Resorts the reception and support the renovation projects have received from the travel community has been overwhelmingly positive.
Set on 11 oceanfront acres the Royal Kona Resort embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation project last year and has emerged with all new guestrooms in the Alii and Lagoon Towers featuring new granite countertops, new tile flooring throughout the bathroom and wet bar area, new marble showers including new fixtures and lighting, new carpet, new artwork and plush new bedding.
Additional improvements include the all new open-air, oceanfront Don the Beachcomber signature restaurant with all new seating areas, Polynesian, retro-tiki style décor with new plantation shutters, and a new Exhibition Show Kitchen where guests can watch the culinary team freshly prepare their entrees. A big part of the success of the new Don the Beachcomber Restaurant lies with Corporate Chef Mikel Lamb, former Executive Chef of the world-famous Hog’s Breath Inn in Carmel, California. Chef Lamb has created a delicious new menu of mouth-watering Pacific Fusion cuisine, seafood and Prime Rib selections. Recently Chef Lamb was the First Place winner of the “People’s Choice Award" at the 5th Annual Kona Chocolate Festival 2006 for his decadent desert, “Don’s Beached Turtles”. Lamb’s vanilla cookie wafer drizzled with marshmallow, nuts and covered with generous amounts of chocolate won out over submissions from other area resorts and restaurants.
Other improvements consist of a complete renovation to the oceanfront Don’s Mai Tai Bar, home of the original Mai Tai. A new lobby area with all new Quartzite tile flooring, new comfortable seating areas, new ceiling fans and refreshing landscape improvements. Upgrades to the pool and private lagoon area include all new thatched beach umbrellas, lounge chairs and patio tables. The new improvements, prime oceanfront location and close proximity to Kailua town make the Royal Kona Resort an incomparable vacation experience for guests.
The Royal Lahaina Resort set on 27 aces of tropical oceanfront paradise along a half-mile stretch of Kaanapali Beach has only just begun to unveil its new product offerings. This past March the first phase of a planned $330-millon redevelopment project began with a $30-million ($90,000 per room) refurbishment to the 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower guestrooms and suites. Every guestroom was completely stripped down to its shell and rebuilt into a new luxury room product. In mid-October the first of the all new luxury guestrooms were returned to inventory.
The all new luxury guestrooms include tasteful décor and lavish appointments hand-selected by Philpotts & Associates, an award-winning design firm located in Hawaii. Each of the Island-inspired guestrooms is custom-designed to entice the senses and connect guests with their tropical surroundings. Rich, teak luxury furnishings custom-crafted by Mark David and Warisan combined with the finest in natural materials create a timeless, simple and subtle elegance.
Guestrooms and suites feature top of the line Presidential Diamond Suite Plush Beds with luxurious linens. In-room guest amenities celebrate the artistry, environment and culture of Hawaii and include custom artwork created by “Joss” which accentuates the Hawaiian canoe and water sports theme present throughout each room. State-of-the-art technology and in-room entertainment features including a 32” high-definition flat screen television, a Sharper Image sound system with Ipod port, cordless phone and wireless high-speed internet service are standard in each room to enhance the overall guest experience. These new improvements coupled with the Resort’s five-star service guarantee make the Royal Lahaina Resort the ultimate Hawaiian experience.
Whatever you imagine as the perfect Island getaway, peaceful naps on the beach; exploring volcanoes; swimming and snorkeling with wild dolphins; or hiking to lush rainforests and magnificent waterfalls let Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts be your host.
