With the inter-Island Hawaii SuperFerry debacle in the news, Yaling and Bruce take this opportunity to talk about traveling between the islands. They discuss alternate airports, the various airlines flying and offer tips to make your traveling to the outer islands easier. It’s been anything but smooth sailing for the Hawaii Superferry, now idle and stuck at Pier 19 in Honolulu because of protests and legal challenges. The interisland ferry canceled scheduled service indefinitely yesterday, pending a court decision on Maui this afternoon and the resolution of safety concerns caused by a blockade of Nawiliwili Harbor by protesters on surfboards and canoes.
Pearl Harbor was on the mind once again from a podcast listener who was wondering if she could squeeze a trip over to Pearl Harbor during a layover in Honolulu. Yaling and Bruce offer more tips on this very common topic which seems to come up quite often.
They close the show by congratulating new customers who with the help of their agents, have come up with some great deals on packages to Hawaii.

It’s Monday, so that means the podcast is devoted to Hawaii vacation news Bruce and Yaling cover the latest news on the Hawaii superferry Bette Midler’s problems on Kauai with trees, The lava flows on the Big Island and the results from last Friday’s poll.
A Maui judge issued a temporary restraining order against the Hawaii Superferry’s use of Kahului Harbor until a court hearing can be held within 10 days.
Judge Joseph Cardoza says the Superferry will not be allowed to use Pier 2 at the harbor but that the ferry’s operators first are required to offer to return customers who already took the ship on its first two days of operation to their "home" port. After which, Hawaii Superferry must "immediately cease operations at Kahului Harbor," said Cardoza’s order which was issued this afternoon.
Podcast listener Shana from New Hampshire is getting married next April and wanted to know the best island to visit for her honeymoon. Yaling and Bruce go over some of her options and discuss the differences between the West Side and the south side of Maui. The island is kinda shaped like a figure 8 with Lahaina and Kaanapali in the upper left .
Lots of great new packages being booked by new customers, Yaling and Bruce share some of the awesome deals these customers have made and congratulate the agents that put them together. Shout outs to agents by Mahea and Abby.

With the growing trend of visitors looking for alternative accommodations, today we discuss the controversial question about weather or not Vacation rentals and B&B’s are legal in Hawaii. We only scratch the surface on this topic because there is very little concrete information available easily.
The problem we face as agents is that we cannot expose ourselves to litigation so we have to be very careful to deal with accommodations that are licensed and insured. Of course, all the properties we deal with including condos are all legal and insured. Our condos are provided to us by wholesalers, so there is even an extra layer of protection. We love the idea of alternative accommodations and if that’s what you want we will always guide you in the right direction and give you advice when we’re working with you to develop your vacation plan.
