   MEET MARK AND KELLY

A couple of months ago, I recieved a call from Mark and Kelly.                They had me on speaker phone and they had a ton of questions regarding the 7 day cruise around the Hawaiian Islands on the "Pride of America". The HAPPY COUPLE was celebrating their 20th Wedding Anniversary, so I was very eager to assist them and make sure they had a GREAT time. They also wanted to check out WAIKIKI and see what the WORLD FAMOUS BEACH had to offer. I was able to find LOW AIRFARE from JFK for them and I combined or ‘PACKAGED" the airfare with a special rate at "The Marriot Waikiki Beach Resort". They vacationed for 3 nights prior to their cruise in a beautiful oceanview room at the "Marriott" where they enjoyed the free breakfast daily and the oceanfront setting. Once on the cruise, they took full advantage of the oceanview balcony cabin. They sipped on Mai Tai’s, while enjoying the gorgeous sunsets from their balcony. They ate like KINGS in the many different restaurants the ship had to offer and they had the time of their lives.

" I can say that this vacation was absolutely one of the most treasured vacations that my wife and I have ever had, it was picture perfect, definately worth the 20 year wait "  -MARK

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort

Lucky me !  I spent a couple of nights at The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort last week and here’s my "RESORT REPORT ".

Experience the splendor of Oahu and the electricity of Honolulu in this spectacular ocean front setting. The Great Hall atrium open air lobby welcomes you with lush tropical flowers and a 3 story cascading waterfall…plus more than 60 shops and exclusive boutiques.

Celebrate panoramic ocean or glorious mountain views from secluded terraces in 1,230 oversized guestrooms and suites. This was the view from my terrace or "my lanai",  as we say here in Hawaii.

The luxurious "Na Ho’ola Spa" features massages, facials, wraps and scrubs. The full service spa offers 19 treatment rooms, a dry sauna, locker rooms, relaxation area and  a couples massage room. It is an oasis of tranquility. I’m looking foward to that traditional Hawaiian "Lomi Lomi" massage.

The Resort  offers five delightful restaurants serving international cuisines. There’s the award winning "Ciao Mein" for a unique blend of Chinese and Italian. Select your entree to grill over a kiawe wood fire at ‘The Colony Steak and Seafood" restaurant. For casual dining, you’ll love "The Terrace Grille" and the poolside "Elegant Dive Bar".  The Hyatt Waikiki is decorated with enchanting works of art and statues in every corner. These are a few of my favorites………………….

The resort host a 24 hour "Hyatt Stay Fit" gym for those who need to work out and a "Camp Hyatt" for  kids between the ages of 3 to 12 years old. Along with a pool, two hot tub whirlpools and an excellent beach location,                          The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort was created for your complete enjoyment.

ask me about the HYATT’s "SUNSHINE ON SALE" specials that offer a FREE upgrade, third night FREE, and daily buffet breakfast for two.

My Big Island Adventure

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to venture over to The Big Island for a few days. I decided to stay at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort. I put alot of my clients at this resort and this was my chance to experience it for myself.

This 10 acre oceanfront resort offers 311 spacious rooms and is adjacent to Kahalu’u Beach, also known as Turtle Beach. I spent Saturday morning there snorkeling amongst many other curious tourists. I was able to rent a mask, snorkel and fins right there on the beach for only $9.50 for the whole day. It was a little crowded, but I managed to catch a glimpse of several different triggerfish, butterflyfish and a school of yellow tang that seemed to be very intrested in me. Later that day, I explored the grounds of the resort and I found out that the hotel and the entire Keauhou Bay is rich with Hawaiian history. King David Kalakaua had a beach cottage here with a royal bathing pool. On Sunday morning, I had a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant, The Kama’aina Terrace, which has a lovely panoramic view of the Kona coast.

The resorts guestrooms have been refurbished with color schemes that echo the sea, sky and flora that surrond the resort. Bright bedcovers, warm rattan furnishings and complimentary high speed internet offer contemporary comfort.

That afternoon, I headed for Kailua Kona Town for an evening of fun. I hopped on the FREE Honu Express Shuttle. The Honu Express is like a big trolley car that runs from The Sheraton all the way to the Kailua pier, at the other end of town. With many stops along the way, its a great way to see Kona and enjoy the wonderful open air experience.

I was able to enjoy a great ride and a beautiful sunset along the way.

Next stop, The Royal Kona Resort…………………………

Set ocean front overlooking Kailua Bay in the heart of Kailua-Kona, The Royal Kona Resort is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, historical sites and activities.

As part of the Resort’s multi-million dollar revitalization project, the Alii and Lagoon Tower guestrooms received a mini makeover including re-designed bathrooms, updated room amenities, and plush bedding. The resort’s Bay Tower was refurbished in 2007 and offers travelers comfortable, value priced guestrooms. Each of the resort’s spacious guestrooms features a large lanai with beautiful mountain vistas or magnificent ocean views.

I made my way thru the lobby and the lush tropical gardens, pass the tennis courts and the split level pools, and I found myself at the “Don the Beachcomber Restaurant.”

The restaurant’s specialty is Seafood and Prime Rib and Pacific Fusion cuisine. They also serve light meals and a variety of tropical drinks and there’s LIVE entertainment. Several nights a week, the resort is home to Kona’s Best Oceanfront Luau “Lava Legends and Legacies Luau”. It’s an evening of feasting on authentic island cuisine while celebrating the traditional music and dances of the South Pacific.
WOW and you have to check out “Don’s Mai Tai Bar”. The bar has also gone thru some great renovations and is an excellent place to watch the ocean and the magnificent sunsets.
This is also where they invented the Original Mai Tai. After a few drinks and flirting with the bartender, her name was Jana, I made my way to dinner. I used to work with Jana, years ago, at The Honolulu Planet Hollywood. It was great to catch up with her and laugh about old times.

I headed out, down Ali’i Drive, towards the pier to a restaurant called “THE FISH HOPPER”. What can I say, Great food and a Great view of Kaiula Bay. I had a delicious bowl of Clam Chowder and The Stuffed Shrimp with Crab Rissotto.                                     OMG ! I was so full I had to pass on dessert, but they had an awesome cheesecake on the dessert tray, that I will definantly be back for.

A special MAHALO to the staff at “Fishhopper” who took great care of me. Thank you Bonnie, Joel and the “World Famous Waiter”, Michael for showing me what True Hawaiian Hospitality is all about.

It was my last day on the Big Island,
and I had to go “check out”  the resort that everyone is talking about.
The Hilton Waikoloa Village is a destination in itself. Once you experience its sun drenched beach, wide variety of dining, and endless array of activities, you won’t want to go anywhere else.

The Hilton’s 1,240 guest rooms are divided among 3 low-rise Ocean, Lagoon and Palace Towers, over 62 acres of unparralled beauty and luxury.
Arriving guests cruise on mahogany BOATS along tranquil waterways to lavish accomodations. Guests can also choose to travel by an air-conditioned swiss-made TRAM or stroll along flagstone walkways where art treasures and antiques are majesticaly presented everywhere you turn.

There’s snorkeling and swimming, scuba diving and, whatever your age, you’ve got to experience the 175-foot twisting water slide in the Kona Pool.
While you are in paradise, at the Hilton, it makes sense to spend some time indulging yourself in seaweed body masques and soothing aromatherapy at The Kohala Spa.
A 25, 00 square foot facility designed to promote health and well being. This relaxing, yet invigorating environment offers Tai Chi classes and Lomi Lomi Hawaiian-style massage, as you gaze across the stunning view of the endless Pacific Ocean.

Golfers can test their skills on either of the 2 resorts championship golf courses. The Beach Course and The Kings Course are set among lava fields and adjacent to the ocean. The Waikoloa courses are among the very best in Hawaii.
Each of the nine restaurants at the Hilton Waikoloa offers distinctive cuisine, from gourmet dining in elegant surroundings to casual pool side snacks.

And finally, an adventure that’s completely unique:        Dolphin Quest.
An educational encounter with bottle nose dolphins under the expert guidance of professional staff.

I had a wonderful time exploring the Hilton Waikoloa Village that day and I’d like to thank Ms. Teresa Cosgrove, Leisure Sales Manager, for showing us around.
  MAHALO TERESA !
