North Shore’s Green Flash at Sunset

Aloha,

From sunset at beautiful Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of the Island of Oahu. Turtle Bay Resort is an upper 4 star hotel that is the only hotel of its kind on that side of the island. It has a great poolside bar over looking the water that offers one of the best places to check out a sunset.

There is a story on the North about a green flash that happens right before the sun goes down. Right before the sun sets into the water there is a green flash that, is said, you can see. My father loves that spot, he calls it Mai Tai Point, for the drinks of course and his friend the green flash. I say his friend because it seems he is the only one that sees it every time. He just got the laser surgery done not to long ago so that might help, but I think it is the umbrella you look at when drinking a Mai Tai. You know, after you taking a big sip you still see the colors.

Anyway, he swears that it is there, screaming, "there it is" as the sun says goodbye for the day. I have never really seen it myself, although sometimes it is hard to see things at good old Mai Tai Point. If you are able to get out there for the islands most amazing sunset, don’t forget to say hello to the cool red headed man screaming, "there it is". He would love to enlighten you about the myth.

All Inclusive

Aloha Friends,

Hawaii is not know for its all inclusive packages like Jamaica or Mexico has to offer, but that does not mean we can’t take care of that for you. Here at Hawaii Aloha Travel our all inclusive packages are unique over the packages you will find in other places of the world. The reason being, we take care of your activities for you as well. You can literally have a vacation set up and ready to go with nothing but souvenir money in your pocket. If you are looking for meals only and no activities, that is not a problem for me to take care of.

When choosing an all inclusive package you will have the variety of different restaurants and styles of food. Breakfast and dinners will be served at the hotel, but lunch will be on you own. This works out better just in case you are off on the other side of the island or decided to go on a fishing expedition and couldn’t get in before the hurricane comes in.(just kidding, not TO many hurricanes in Hawaii)

If you have any special requests or quick questions, my name is Makana 1-800-843-8771 ext 26

Take care and until next time

Turtle Beach

Aloha,

From Turtle Beach on the Island of Oahu. The beach is named Turtle Beach because of all the, you guessed it, turtles that have made this beach their play ground. If you have not seen a Hawaiian sea turtle and would like an up close experience, this is the place to be. The beach is on the North Shore of Oahu, famous for its surf in the winter, and causes a traffic jam every time you go out there. You can’t miss it.

Please be careful when swimming with the turtles and try not to touch them because the oils in on our hands ruin their shell. They come right on the beach and sometimes swim right next to you as if it was your best friend.  It can be a bit startling if your back is turned to them. The number of spectators that arrive on the beach everyday make it a hot spot in the summer time. It is amazing how close you can get to one of these beautiful animals

Since you are out there don’t forget to check out Haleiwa town. Haleiwa is full of great little shops and hip places to eat. Speed limit is about 5 miles an hour on a busy day so if you are in a rush go around.

Shave Ice

Aloha,

For those of you who don’t know what shave ice is or kept hearing about it when you were on the islands,  this blog is for you. 1st rule, try not to get a shave ice in Waikiki, "why" you say, because I have not seen a machine that grounds up blocked ice only the cubes. A big NO NO. Find the machines that make their ice from the blocks of ice. There is a variety of flavors to choose from. You can choose up to 3 flavors and even enjoy a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the bottom. When you are here, you must try a shave ice with Ling Hui Mui and strawberry or a juicy, juicy passion fruit will hit the spot after a nice day in the ocean.

There are a couple of places here on the island of Oahu that is famous for their shave ice. Matsumoto’s on the north shore is probably the most famous and Island Snow in Kailua, but if you are at the Waikele outlets there is a little kart outside of Sports Authority that has the best on the island, hands down. Don’t forget the holder so you don’t make a mess and the small size are nearly as big as the large.

Hawaii Family Vacation

From the beautiful island of Oahu. It is a beautiful day today with light trade winds and a clear sky. There was a south shore swell this week the was great for blowhole spectators by world famous Sandy Beach. (Sandy’s is famous for the most broken necks and backs in the state. Kids lets just watch at this one.)

Moms and Dads if you are looking for a great way to spend the day and plenty to do for the kids, may I suggest Kailua Beach on the east side of Oahu. There is kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, boogie boarding, and Kite surfing for those that like to catch a whole lot of air. It is one of my favorite beaches to visit on the island, the water is crystal clear with light waves for the kids to have a blast. Don’t forget shave ice at the corner store Island Snow, the drive back to Waikiki is not the same with out it.
