Surfing in Hawaii
|
Hawaii is appreciated for its warm, crystal clear waters and stunning landscapes, so water sports and adventure activities are some of the major highlights for people when they visit the islands. One of the most popular activities for Hawaii travelers is surfing, and it's no wonder, Hawaii is known as one of the best surfing spots in the world.
No matter if you are an experienced surfer who loves challenging big waves or are a beginner who wants to learn to surf, Hawaii is the best place to do this. Hawaii offers the perfect waves for surfers of all skill levels. If you are a beginner, Waikiki Beach in Oahu offers ideal year-round surfing and has many surfing schools and surf board rentals available. Several resorts and hotels also offer surf camps as well as private lessons. Kalapaki Beach on the south east coast of Kauai is also great for beginners because of its protected bay and the south coast of Poipu features reliable waves most of the year. In West Maui, beginners find Kaelia Beach in Kihei the perfect place to learn to surf in Hawaii.
The ideal surf spots for experienced surfers vary as per wind conditions and season. If you are looking for massive waves, the north shores of all the islands between November and April are the places to be. If you are in Hawaii between May and October, head to the south shores of all islands. These waves are not as huge as the winter waves but are still excellent, particularly on the south coast of Oahu and Kauai.
Surfing in Hawaii is truly a wonderful experience; you get to surf in beautiful waters and on perfect waves. Even if you have never surfed in your life, it is a great activity to partake in while on your Hawaii vacation. Surf's up! |
