Kaanapali Beach

Kaanapali Beach is the perfect destination if you want to spend time on a pristine beach with modern conveniences. Located on West Maui, about two miles north of Lahaina, Kaanapali Beach is considered to be the best beach on the best island in the world. Once the playground for Hawaiian royalty, the three- mile long beach runs from Canoe Beach to Black Rock. The average year-round temperature is 75-88° F and the ocean temperature varies from the mid to upper 70's.
Today Kaanapali Beach is fronted with luxury resort hotels, condominium resorts, and a world-class shopping village, all connected by a concrete beach walk. Kaanapali Beach Resort was Hawaii's first planned resort and still serves as a model for resorts around the world. Its properties cover over 1,200 acres and provides over 3,500 hotel rooms and suites and over 1,000 condominium units. Whalers Village, an open-air shopping complex, is in the center of the resort with over 70 shops and restaurants. Every evening at sundown, Kaanapali has a cliff diving ceremony at Black Rock to honor Maui's revered King Kahekili. At a time when the spot was considered to be the jumping off place for the soul to enter the nether world, King Kahekili bravely dove from the cliff at Black Rock, into the churning sea.
Kaanapali Beach offers a range of recreational activities like golfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking, whale watching, and parasailing, so you can experience it all on your Hawaii vacation. The Kaanapali Golf Course features two championship golf courses, the Royal Kaanapali Course and the Kaanapali Kai Course. Whale watching in Kaanapali is also very popular because most of the whales congregate along the south and western shores of Maui, so the encounter is amazing.
