Royal Hawaiian Hotel (The pink lady)

Well it would only be fitting to blog in pink about the Royal Hawaiian Hotel otherwise known as "The Pink Palace"

Again like the Moana Surfrider the Royal Hawaiian has the feel of old hawaii, yet elegant and beautiful.  Most people know this hotel by it’s signature pink color.  It was so nice and refreshing to go to this property.  I remember going here when I was a little girl and it really is a special place.

The big plus here that I immediately felt while walking the halls of the downstairs area is that what I get a lot is that people don’t want to stay in waikiki because of all the city, but walking off the street of waikiki to this property was like walking into it’s own world.  It was so quiet and peaceful.  You can walk through the shops and visit all the stores and not a sound from the streets of waikiki.  It really did amaze me how quiet it got there.  As a child I never paid attention to those kinds of things of course so coming back to visit the pink palace I took notice to different things such as that.

The Lighting was bad. but the towels hanging and the bin under sink are all pink!

Much Better lighting now you can see it in all it’s pickness!

The tower rooms have been renovated pretty recently.  The rooms are beautiful and again, me and my balconies of course I loved their balconies.  Again they were cement balconies not the type with the bars which for me I love with children because it feels a lot safer.  The views not only of the ocean but of the area below are beautiful.  You get to look out and down onto the beach and because they put out their pink umbrellas on the beach it makes for a really pretty site.  They have their own private portion of the beach outside of their hotel and what that means is there is a portion of the beach right out front of the hotel that is roped off from the public portion of the beach.  Lounge chairs with their pink umbrellas are set up right outside for their guests only.  This portion does not go all the way out to the water, but you certainly can go for a swim and come back to your lounge chair within their own private portion which makes it nice so it’s not overly crowded wherever you sit on the beach.

The View from an ocean room (see the line of pink umbrellas?  That is their part of the beach for their guests only)

The rooms in the tower wing were nicely done and like the moana surfrider they have also put in large flat screen tv’s.  They said they probaby won’t do much renovations to the tower wing since they were redone not long ago.  The hotel is closing down june of 2008 for 6 months to do major renovations to the property.  They will be adding a huge oceanfront spa to their property.

If planning to come to hawaii before june 2008 this would make a great property to stay at.  I was told they should be running some good specials to look for and it would be nice to stay in this beautiful pink palace and have the memories of the hotel the way it was in old hawaii.  They will still be keeping their signature pink color when doing the renovations as well.

Starwood properties have been looking into how to make things better and in 2008 you should see a lot of new things from them.  They will start adding guaranteed connecting rooms for those families who have more than 4 occupants, but yet want the security of knowing they will have guaranteed connecting rooms and also more room with daily breakfast specials to come out soon.

If planning a wedding the moana surfrider and the royal hawaiian make perfect locations to get married.

So don’t wait book your stay at the royal hawaiin "pink palace" before June of 2008 to experience the elegance of old hawaii.
