Anyone planning to visit Hawaii can receive helpful tips on the blog. People who have visited the islands of Hawaii can keep in touch with local news and events through the posts, which increased to a daily publication schedule in July, 2010. The Hawaii Vacation Blog is the only online resource providing Hawaii-based information aimed at travelers seven days per week.

Roots
Hawaii Vacation Blog was founded April 14, 2006 by Bruce Fisher. Jim Winpenny was the lead blogger for several years before his death in May, 2009. His posts are collected in the Hawaii Vacation Playbook and on the blog site as the Jim Winpenny Archive category. Cindy Scheopner began writing for the blog in July, 2009 and was named its first editor a year later. On October 1, 2011 Alyssa S. Navares succeeded her as editor.
Readership
The Hawaii Vacation Blog (www.hawaii-aloha.com/blog) ranks at the top of search engines for Hawaii-related information with 6,577 pages of content. From June 2009 to June 2010 the blog received visits from 78,301 different keywords with average time spent by each visitor at 4.9 minutes. HVB blog recorded 103,553 unique visits during 2010. In August alone, there were 12,300 unique visitors. These numbers indicate that the blog is popular and has a strong connection with readers. Google lists it number two in Hawaii news blogs.
Additionally the blog has consistently been one of the top-rated blogs in a key word search for "Hawaii Blog" on Google.com. Bing.com, and Yahoo.com.
