Raining and Pouring for Pro Bowl Hawaii

Happy Pro Bowl, football fans! In Hawai‘i, that means posting up in front of the television with a spread of poke, chips and dip, sushi and many other pupu (appetizers) platters. The ones lucky enough to snag tickets for the Aloha Stadium game might need to bring a pancho or jacket. It's going to be a rainy one today.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms have prompted meteorologists to issue a Flash Flood Watch today, for the islands of Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau and O‘ahu. There will also be vog. But there won't be snow, which both the NFC and the AFC players are used to playing in. As for the thunder and lighting? I'm thinking they'd cancel the game.

As for the fans, they'll not only be suited up in fan gear but in rain gear as well. The stadium doesn't allow umbrellas, so fans will have to resort to panchos and jackets instead. Some make their own panchos by punching holes for their arms into trash bags. 

Like many Hawai‘i events televised across the nation, the Pro Bowl is a chance to showcase the beautiful island weather and beaches. This time, however, the rainy weather may show viewers another side of sunny Hawai‘i that they never expected. The plus-side will be that it won't be freezing rain, like the weather on parts of the mainland. It'll be a nice warm shower, at the very least, and as they say, "No rain, no rainbows!"
