A highlight on Kauai is valuable to potential visitors because here is where you will find some of the top hotels and resorts in the Aloha State. Of all places to stay in Hawaii, we are going to emphasize our top favorite hotels on Kauai, frankly because we know a lot about this lush Garden Isle. From Kauai’s expansive west side with miles of golden sand to the tropical rainforests of the North Shore to the spaces and places between, here are the highest rankings on our personal favorites list.

West Side: Waimea Plantation Cottages- These sugar-plantation style cottages stray away from high-end luxury into a quainter, simpler, more authentic style of vacationing. Set back along the sunny coast of Waimea, these cozy cabins are nestled within tall coconut palms, each one complete with their own private lanai (porch) and spacious grounds. Relax by the pool, melt away stress in the spa, or explore the local lands of Kauai’s west side while vacationing at these “sugar shacks”.

South Side: Sheraton Kauai Resort- We love this resort first, for the beach it sits on, second, for its prime location in Poipu, and third, for its gorgeous, new renovations. A top south side place to stay in Hawaii, the Sheraton is classy, breezy, and undeniably relaxing. It’s also a gathering place for locals, which is always a good sign for visitors. This means that despite the resort crowd, there still remain parts of the hotel that are desirable. Like the swimming, ping, snorkeling, dining, and weekend nightlife. Plus, you can walk to almost any south side destination from the Sheraton because it is conveniently placed between stunning Poipu and quaint Koloa (the two towns of the south side).

East Side: Marriot Kauai Beach Club- The sprawling property is regal, grand, and luxurious, but maintains a sense of friendliness with the slow-paced atmosphere of Kauai. Perhaps because the Marriot is a popular place for anyone to enjoy, not just visiting guests. Kalapaki beach offers fun and easy surfing experiences, whereas the shopping provides unique boutiques and markets for everyone, and the restaurants (we recommend Duke’s) are hotspots for lively activity. Did we mention the world-class golf course on site too?

North Shore: St. Regis Princeville- We’re just going to go ahead and say it, the newly designed and managed St Regis on Kauai’s north shore is unbelievable. And the north shore of Kauai might just be the ultimate geographical point of awe-inspiring beauty.
