What makes a coconut Hawaiian?

Listen to this podcast
What makes a coconut Hawaiian?  Yaling and Bruce discuss this and whole lot more during their Hawaii Travel News Segment.  They also congratulate new customers, go over their packages and give kudos to the agents that helped them. Podcast listener Vicki is coming to Hawaii with her family next month and is staying in a condo and planning to cook most of their own food. She wanted to get an idea of what groceries will cost so Yaling and Bruce offer advise on ways to save money on food in Hawaii and what food items are less expensive.

In another sign that the interisland fare war is inflicting a heavy toll on the two longtime local carriers, Aloha Airlines already has lost more money this year than it did for all of 2006. The privately held airline, which has now been in the red for 15 consecutive quarters, saw its second-quarter net loss widen more than sixfold to $18.8 million from a year ago, according to preliminary data released today by the federal Bureau of Transportation Statistics. That ballooned Aloha’s loss through the first six months to $43 million — greater than the $41.5 million that Aloha lost in all of 2006.

A developer has abandoned plans to rebuild the historic Coco Palms Resort on Kaua’i and will instead sell the waterfront property. Coco Palm Ventures LLC had planned to spend some $220 million constructing 196 condominium units, 48 hotel bungalows, a spa and two restaurants on the 54-acre site where much of Elvis Presley’s 1961 movie "Blue Hawaii" was filmed.
