Hala Pandanus Odoratissimus
This versitile plant ws used for paint brushes, lei making, mats and medicine. The root tip, mixed with other plants including the juice of sugar cane, was pounded, squeezed and strained. Hot stones were then placed in the mixture and given to someone with chest pains or to women after childbirth. In times of famime the hala fruit was used for food too. .
