Kokua Festival, Waikiki Shell, Day 1

WOW!  What a good time we had last night at the Kokua Festival!  This wasn’t the first year that I had gone to a Kokua Festival but it was the first year that my husbands band Go Jimmy Go performed in the festival and boy having backstage passes was sweet!  The Waikiki Shell was sold out from what I understand meant more than 8,000 people plus the lawn outside the Waikiki Shell was filled with people who didn’t have tickets to get in but were still having a good time and enjoying the music.

Good news for people wanting to go to tonights show - there were lots of tickets available until about 3pm (doors open at 2:30).  Tickets were available not at the box office but in the parking lot and what was nice was that for the most part the people selling the tickets were just trying to make what they paid for the tickets and not selling them at ridiculous prices.

Me, Kiva, Jack Johnson, Casius, & Bison

Go Jimmy Go started the show off…

Paula Fuga has such a beautiful voice mixing reggae with island style beats…  I fell in love with her song Sweet Reverie

Dave Matthews rocked the house - I mean really he did!  Crash was my favorite performance but he put on about an hour long show and it was incredible from start to finish.

Jack Johnson put on a great show as well playing a two hour set - he also brought up Paula Fuga to sing Country Road with him, and Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, & Mason Jennings also took the stage with him.

Overall it was one of the best nights out I had had in a long time!  And look at that crowd!!!

The last show is tonight, April 20th - show starts at 4pm.

A hui hou,
